The moment has come to announce Powder Butterfly’s very first print-on-demand collection for Pride UK Gifts. It’s a collaboration too!
What better time than Pride Month to introduce the Pride UK collection? This fabulous new collection, designed by me, reflects this beautiful, resilient and inspirational community. In addition highlighting some of the most iconic and beautiful landmarks in North East England.
What is the Pride UK Gift collection?
It’s a collection of products, specifically designed by me, to support Northern Pride. It features some of the most iconic and recognisable landmarks in the North East. Furthermore a whopping 50% of profits will be donated to help Northern Pridecontinue the amazing work they do to support the LGBTQ+ community in the North East.
It’s the first print-on-demand collection, which means each item is made individually by our supplier and shipped out directly to our customers.
Which landmarks are included?
The landmarks featured within the collection relate to various parts of North East England. I wanted to create a collection that would enable visitors to the North East to purchase a keepsake from their visit. In other words, to remind them of their time here.
The landmarks included in the collection are:
Penshaw monument – Sunderland
Tommy the soldier – Durham
Transporter Bridge - Middlesbrough
Tyne Bridge - Newcastle upon Tyne
St Mary's Lighthouse - Whitley Bay coast
Alnwick Castle - Northumberland
What products are available in the collection?
I wanted to provide a wide range of products to suit everyone’s tastes so the Pride UK designs are available on:
If you buy the t-shirt, I’m also encouraging my brilliant customers to get creative. For instance, to style the t-shirt in their own way then use the #styleyourpride hashtag to show me their Pride!
Pride UK Gifts Sustainability
I’ve also been really careful to source sustainable products for this and other Powder Butterfly collections. It’s really important to me to have as small an impact as possible on the environment with my work. Therefore I’ve found a supplier who has the same values as me when it comes to sustainability.
From recycled t-shirts and phone cases to reusable and recyclable tote bags and eco-solvent printed stickers. Similarly, we limit our impact as much as possible. Furthermore you will find our Pride UK collection is no different.
Why did Powder Butterfly decide to support Pride?
I’ve been a big supporter of the LGBTQ+ community for many years through a number of my friends. But more recently, family members have come out to me and I really wanted to create a collection that celebrated this beautiful community.
When I found out that Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Northern Pride would be the hosts for Pride UK 2022, I jumped at the chance to create a collection. Above all, to celebrate my home, its landmarks and Pride UK.
What was the inspiration behind the design?
My products are bought by people all over the world. As reminders of visits to the UK and the various locations I have collections for.
It’s incredible that people travel from all over the world to celebrate Pride. In other words, this collection is perfect for anyone who would like to support Pride, even after they’ve arrived home.
Inspirational and Up-lifting
In terms of inspiration for the designs, as I do with every design, I wanted to create something that is inspirational and up-lifting. It was really important to me that this collection instilled pride of the location in my amazing community of supporters.
I used a combination of the LGBTQ+ community colours with Angels of the North flying over local landmarks. In other words to represent the vision I had to symbolise the community and a sense of pride in North East England.
I love the North East of England and I am so excited that Pride UK will be hosted in the beautiful city of Newcastle.
Northern Pride is hosting Pride UK in July 2022. There’s loads of information about the events taking place, here.
